What is Authorised Signatory in GST?
Authorised Signatory in GST is referred to the Taxpayer who is authorised to operate the GST Account on the official website of GST.
If the business you are registering for is the partnership firm then, upto ten persons can be registered as Authorised Signatories.
Generally, the promoters are considered as primary Authorised Signatory.
All the information and notifications related to GST are sent to the registered contact details of the Primary Authorised Signatory.
What is Authorised Signatory PAN?
Authorised Signatory PAN is referred to the Permanent Account Number of the Authorised Signatory.
While registering for GST, you need to submit details of the Permanent Account Number of all the partners.
Applicants need to submit bank details, address details and many other details of the partners involved.
PAN details are one of most important fields and it must be filled carefully.
What is Letter of Authorization for GST?
About ten Authorised Signatory can be registered for a business which is spread in different states, partnership firms, LLP and many others.
A person who is primarily responsible for operating the GST account of the firm should be registered as Primary Authorised Signatory.
This person is needed to be selected by all other partners registered for the business.
For registering a partner/promoter as Primary Authorised Signatory, a letter is to be submitted on the official portal of GST.
Declaration of Primary Authorised Signatory is done on the Letter of Authorization for GST.
All the partners registered for business are needed to sign the Letter of Authorization for GST.

Who is Eligible to Change the Authorised Signatory or Contact Details of Authorised Signatory
Usually, the person who registers for Goods and Services Tax fills contact details of the promoter as contact details of Primary Authorised Signatory.
However, these details can be changed after filling the registration form.
Amendments can be done by the applicant who filled the registration form, a Chartered Accountant and a GST practitioner.
Contact details of Authorised Signatory can be changed by the Taxpayer who is registered as a normal taxpayer as well as by the one who opted for the composition scheme.
Taxpayers registered under any of the business types (tax deductor and collector, foreign consultant or taxpayers of embassy, online service provider who doesn’t live in India and others) can change their contact details.

Documents Required for Changing Authorised Signatory in GST
For adding a new Authorised Signatory, the applicant should have all the mandatory documents.
You can delete the registered person, add new partners and edit details of existing partners.
Documents required for changing authorised signatory are –
- Photograph of the person who wants to get registered as the authorised person.
- Aadhaar Card of the business partner or promoter who is willing to register himself.
- PAN Card of the new person who wants to get registered.
- Bank Account details of that person.
- Address Proof of the Authorised Signatory.
- Valid phone number and email id of the person who is willing to get registered for business.
Documents mentioned above are required for adding a new person into the business account of GST.
Contact details of the Taxpayer who is already registered as authorised signatory can be edited.
Although, the Taxpayers do not need such documents for editing the contact details of Authorised Signatory.
For changing contact details, previously registered email id and phone number of the Primary Authorised Signatory and other Authorised Signatories can be used.

Letter For Change of Authorised Signatory in GST
Authorised Signatory can be changed in GST.
For changing Authorised Signatory, you need to submit a Letter for Change of Authorised Signatory at the official portal of GST.
Letter for Change of Authorised Signatory is to be submitted online. You need to submit your application for amendments in Form GST REG-14.

How to Change Authorised Signatory in GST
Registered companies may need to change their partner’s details.
They may need to add new partners and remove previously registered partners.
There is no specific option for changing authorised signatory in GST. You need to submit the Letter for Change of Authorised Signatory.
For changing the Authorised Signatory, you have to submit Form GST REG-14.
For changing details which will alter the Permanent Account Number of the registered business, you need to get a new registration done.
New registration can be done by filling and submitting Form GST REG-01.
You have to follow the steps mentioned below-
- Go to the Official Portal of GST
Go to the online website of GST. Governmental website of GST is www.gst.gov.in.
- GST Login
Now, you have to go to the ‘Login’ tab and then click on the ‘Login’ button present on the Official Portal. - Enter Details
As you click on the ‘Login’ tab, the login page will be displayed on the screen.
There you have to enter your username and password and click on ‘LOGIN’.
- Click on ‘Services’
As you click on ‘LOGIN’, your account will be displayed on the screen.
You have to click on the ‘Services’ tab which will be located on the menu bar. This option is located on the left side of the screen.
- Go to Registration
As you click on the ‘Services’ tab, all options will be displayed on the screen. Then, you have to click on the ‘Registration’ tab. - Change Core Field Details
After that, click on the ‘Amendment of Registration Core Fields’.
As you click on this tab, all options related to amendment will be displayed.
- Click on Promoters/Partners
If you want to add more partners, you can do so by deleting existing partners or by editing details of partners who are already registered.
After that, click on ‘Promoters/Partners’ tab. As you click on this tab, details of registered partners will be displayed.
- Edit the Details
If you want to add more partners then you need to click on the ‘Add New’ tab. Then, enter the details of new partners.
You also need to upload scanned documents related to the new person. Then click on ‘Continue’.
If you want to edit details of partners who are already registered then you need to click on their name.
You can choose between ‘Edit’ and ‘Delete’.
If you want to edit details then click on the ‘Edit’ icon and if you want to delete the contact then click on ‘Delete’.
- Submit the Amendments
You will then have to submit the changes that you made. - Go to the ‘Verification’ Icon
For going further you have to click on the ‘Verification’ option. As you click on this, the disclaimer message will appear on your screen.
If you agree with that and you want to complete the process, click on the box provided near the message.
- Choose Authorised Signatory
You have to choose this from the list provided under ‘Name of Authorised Signatory’.
You also need to enter the name in the field provided. - Sign the Application
You have to do this by using DSC. Signature can also be submitted by using EVC or E-signature. This is a mandatory step. - Confirmation Message
As you complete the process of amendment and submit the form, a confirmation message is sent to your registered email id and mobile number.
- Acceptance or Rejection of Application
Your application is going to be reviewed by the officers and you will receive a message related to acceptance and rejection of your application.- If your application is accepted, the amendments will be updated. This process is completed within 15 days of submission for your amendment application.
You will receive approval in Form GST REG-15. - If your application is not approved due to some reasons, you will receive this information in Form GST REG-03.
You can reply to this information in Form GST REG-04 in which you have to provide clarification to the reason for rejection and submit necessary details.
You have to revert back within a week. Your application can either be approved or it can be rejected and you will get this information in Form GST REG-05.
- If your application is accepted, the amendments will be updated. This process is completed within 15 days of submission for your amendment application.
GST Email ID and Mobile Number Change Letter Format
One of the best features of GST is that you don’t have to submit a hard copy of the letter for changing your Email id or mobile number.
You don’t have to conduct exhaustive visits to the offices.
For changing mobile number and email id of the Authorised Signatory, you need to go to the official portal of GST. Amendments can be done online.
How to Change Mobile Number or Email id in GST
Mobile number and Email id of the person who is already registered on the official portal of GST can be changed.
Taxpayers should keep updating the latest information about their mobile number and Email id.
For changing the mobile number you have to follow the process given below –
- Visit Official Portal of GST
Go to www.gst.gov.in. As you click on this link you will reach the official website of Goods and Services Tax. - Click on Login
Various options will be available on your screen. You have to go to the ‘Login’ icon located on the top of the page on the right side and click on it. - Enter your Details
As you click on ‘Login’, you will be directed to the login page. You need to enter your username and password to login into your account.
- GST Login
You will be required to enter captcha that appears in the captcha box.
After that, click on the ‘LOGIN’ option given below. As you click on it, you will be directed to your registered account. - Go to ‘Services’
Various options will appear on your screen. You need to choose ‘Services’ from the menu. - Click on ‘Registration’
All options related to ‘Services’ will be provided on your screen. For changing fields, you will have to click on the ‘Registration’ tab.
- Click on ‘Amendment of Registration Non-Core Field’
Email id and mobile number are considered as non-core fields of registration. Changing these fields won’t bring a change in registered PAN card and GST identification number.
For making amendments in mobile number and email id, you need to click on ‘Amendment of Registration Non-Core Fields’.
- Go to ‘Authorised Signatory’ Option
For changing mobile number and email ID, you have to go to the ‘Authorised Signatory’ option and click on it.
- Click on ‘Add New’ Option
You can edit or add new contact details. As you want to change your contact details, click on ‘Add New’ and enter the details.
For saving the details, you have to click on the ‘Save’ button. - Go to Verification Option
Then you need to verify the changes that you made. You need to click on ‘Verification’ icon provided on the screen.
As you click on this, the disclaimer message will appear on your screen.
If you agree with that and wish to complete the process, you will need to click on the box provided near the message. - Select Authorised Signatory
You have to choose this from the list provided under ‘Name of Authorised Signatory’. You also need to enter the name in the field provided. - Enter the Place
In this field, you need to enter the name of the place. This is used as one of the mandatory steps of verification. - Enter Digital Signature
You have to do this by using DSC. Signature can also be submitted by using EVC or E-signature. This is a mandatory step. - You Will Receive a Confirmation Message
After completing the process of verification and finally submitting the new details, you will receive a confirmation message.
This message is sent to the contact details which were previously registered. - Again Go to the GST Login
After receiving the acknowledgement, you will need to login in to your account again.
Go to the official portal of GST and click on the ‘Login’ option. - Enter Your Details
As you click on the ‘Login’ option, you will be directed to the login page. Enter your username and password.
Then enter the captcha mentioned in the captcha box and click on ‘LOGIN’. - Go to ‘Amendment of Registration Non-Core Field’
Then click on the ‘Services’ icon and open the ‘Registration’ tab.
After that, you need to click in the ‘Amendment of Registration Non-Core Fields’. - Click on ‘Authorised Signatory’ Option
Various fields of amendment will be displayed and for changing mobile number and contact details you need to click on the ‘Authorised Signatory’ icon. - Select Primary Signatory
Details related to Authorised Signatory will appear on your screen.
You can select the newly updated contact details as contact details of primary signatory. - Click on Verification
Now you need to verify new details. Click on the ‘Verification’ icon.
Please note that you can proceed further only after clicking on the disclaimer box for approval. - Select the Authorised Signatory
You have to choose this from the list provided under ‘Name of Authorised Signatory’.
You also need to enter the name in the field provided. You need to sign this by using DSC or by using EVC or E-signature. - Acknowledgement Message
As you complete your verification process and submit all the details, an acknowledgement message will be sent to newly registered contact details.
In this way, you can complete amendment of contact details.
How to change Trade Name in GST?
You can change the Trade Name in GST by visiting the official website of Goods and Services tax.
- You need to go to the website of GST. Portal will be displayed on the screen.
- Click on ‘Login’ option located on the top and right side of the portal. Then enter your username and password and then press ‘LOGIN’.
- Click on the ‘Services’ Icon and select ‘Registration’. Many options will appear on the screen. You have to click on the ‘Amendment of Registration Core Fields’ tab.
- After that, select ‘Business Details’. You can then edit details of your business.
- Click on ‘edit’ on the legal name and the trade name.
- Then you will have to enter the date of amendment from the calendar given. Along with that, you will need to state the reason for amendments.
- Leadingly, save the details by clicking on the ‘Save’ button.
- The website will ask you to verify which can be done by clicking on the ‘Verification’ icon.
- If you agree with the declaration and want to go further, then you can click on the ‘declaration’ option.
- Select Authorised Signatory from the ‘Name of Authorised Signatory’.
- Enter the place of business and then provide your digital signature.
- Next, click on the ‘Save’ button.

How to change address in GST Portal?
It is simple to change the address by visiting the GST portal.
- Visit the website of GST.
- Click on the ‘Login’ option and enter your username and password.
- Then enter captcha available on your screen and press the ‘LOGIN’ button. Now, your account will be displayed on the screen.
- Select the ‘Services’ option and go to the ‘Registration’ tab. All the related options will be displayed on the screen.
- You need to click on ‘Amendment of Registration Core Fields’ and choose the icon of ‘Principal Place of Business’ and ‘Additional Place of Business’.
- Click on edit to change the details. Select date of amendment from the calendar and provide a valid reason in the field.
- Click on the ‘Save’ button to save the amendments.
- Go to the ‘Verification’ Icon.
- Choose the authorised signatory from the list. Enter the name of place and sign the application digitally.
- Then click on the ‘Save’ button and your address will be changed.
However, you cannot change an address which alters the PAN details and GSTIN.
