What Is GST

GST Full Form

Full form of GST is Goods and Services Tax. There are three different types of GST and they are CGST, IGST and SGST. Full forms of various types of GST and their particulars are cited below:

CSGT Full Form

Full form of CGST is Central Goods and Tax services. A share of GST is sent to the Central Government and this comes under CGST. All Central Tax like excise duty, sales tax, super excise duty are included in CGST.

SGST Full Form

Full form of SGST is – State Goods and Service Tax. The State Government also receives some share of goods and services tax that comes under SGST. All the State Tax like entry tax, the Value Added Tax which is abbreviated as VAT, the entertainment tax which is imposed on the various entertainment related services, luxury tax which is imposed on the luxurious goods and services are included in SGST.

IGST Full Form

Full form of IGST is Integrated Goods and Service Tax. IGST is divided between state and central government. IGST will be charged in case of transfer of goods between states.

GST Portal

This is the government’s official website for GST. official portal of GST is www.gst.gov.in.

GST Registration

According to laws of CBIC, there are some of the businesses that are required to register under the official portal of GST. You can do your registration online. Fill your details, scan and upload required documents then your GSTIN of 15 digits is generated. Temporary login and password will be set in and your registration will be completed.

GST Certificate

All the taxpayers who have successfully registered themselves on the website of GST are provided GST Certificates. You will need this GST certificate while dealing with other business partners. It is also required as proof of paying tax. Sometimes you will need to present documents before officials. Some of the documents are really important for further use and should be kept safe. If you own a business then you must have following documents:

GST Registration Documents

You can only register under GST if you have important documents ready with yourself. You should have your identity proof. Along with identity proof they should have their PAN card and photographs.

If you are registering for a business involving various partners then you need address proof of all partners, their aadhar card and partnership deed(if any). Bank account statement and business registration proof are also required.

GST Registration Certificate

GST registration certificate is issued for those who have registered under GST.

The taxpayers can download their GST Certificate from the website of GST which is under control of the government.

GST Number Format – GST No Search

After registering under goods and services tax you are provided a unique GST number.

This GST number is of fifteen digits and called as GSTIN. Goods and Services Tax Identification Number is the full form of GSTIN and it is used to identify a user.

For a normal taxpayer, 2 digits represent state, following 10 digits represent PAN number, entity number is represented by 13th digit and default alphabet by 14th and last digit is check digit.

GST Challan

Under Goods and Services Tax, you need to create a single challan for penalty, interest and late fee, which can be done through online mode.

This is to be done within specified office hours. You can create as many challan as you want.

Physical Challan is not accepted. You can create your GST Challan by the official portal of GST.

You can go to create a challan option by clicking on the service section. Then after making payment you can download the challan.

How to Change Authorised Signatory in GST

All necessary information regarding GST is sent to your mobile number and email id.

You must register correct details of them. If you want to change authorised signatory then you can do this by going to the official site of GST. You must login in into your account and go to the authorized signatory tab.

Then enter your new details and after verification again login in to your account and remove your past details.

GST Number Search By Name

You can search your Goods and Services Tax Identification number by name of your organization.

This can be done by using the GST search tool. You can do this by entering the correct name of your company and your state. You can also search GSTIN by entering your name.

GST Search By PAN – Know your GST

Goods and Services Tax Identification Number is of 15 digits out of which 10 digits represent the PAN number of GST registration holder. You can do this by using the GST search tool. You must enter your PAN number along with the state number. These details must be correct.

GST State Code

Every state and union territories are given a unique code under GST. This code is used in GST identification number.

Eway Bill GST Login

Eway Bill is abbreviated as EWB. This was enforced to provide the facility of easy transfer of goods.

You may register for eway bill and with help of this you can get single permission through which you will be able to transfer your goods anywhere you want without taking permissions from different authorities.

GST Payment

GSTR 6 is needed to be filed once in a month and you have to detail your tax input as well as output.

GSTR 9

This return is divided into many sections. This return is to be filed annually.

You have to file this return online. GSTIN details and business details also needs to be entered.

You must enter your inward and outward tax details. Your detail must be filled in about 4 sections. Then you have to pay the late fee and proceed further for completion.

GSTR 7

This needs to be filed by the taxpayer who wants to eliminate their tax deducted at source.

You need to provide details of TDS paid, TDS deducted or TDS refunded. This is to be filed on the monthly basis.

GSTR 10

Those who have cancelled their GST registration need to file this return. GSTR 10 is to be filed only once.

This must be filed within three months of filing of return. You will need to enter your details of name, address, company and GSTIN.

GST Annual Return

GST Annual Return Due Date

Normally, gst annual return due date is the late day of the year that is 31st December but it may get extended under some circumstances.

Reverse Charge Under GST

GST On Rent

GST is applied on renting commercial property. Total GST that is to be paid is 18% of the rent.

You have to provide 18% tax on rent out of which the Central government receives 9% and 9% is received by the State Government.Renting residential property is not taxable.

GST On Hotel Rooms

Goods and Services Tax is applicable to hotel services also. No GST is charged on the hotel bill of less than Rs.1000/-.

A tax of 12% of bill is applicable to hotel services in case the bill is greater than Rs. 1000 per night.

This rate of tax is fixed for the bill upto Rs. 7500 per night. For the bill greater than Rs. 7500 per night tax liability is 28% of the total bill. Percentage of tax is fixed on hotel rooms.

GST On Cement

Cement industries is one of the most widespread businesses of India. Goods and services tax is applicable to cement at the rate of 28%.

GST On Food

Goods and Services Tax is applicable to foods. Tax rate varies on different food items.

5% tax is applicable on foods served at restaurants, canteens, hostels, on board trains, mess.

Tax @18% is applicable on foods served at luxurious hotels which provide services of Rs. 7500 per night. 18% tax is also applicable to foods served at guest houses and catering services.

GST Invoice Format in Excel (Bill)

The taxpayers can make their own GST invoice in Excel sheet.

This GST invoice format that is made by the taxpayer must follow all the norms of GST.

The norms for making your GST invoice in Excel are different for normal taxpayer and the taxpayers who are registered under composition scheme. It is mandatory for every taxpayer to issue an invoice to their customers.

In case of not providing GST invoice to your customers you may be liable to pay penalty.

You must provide details of your name, address, business detail, GSTIN, date of invoice, information about recipient and rate of tax applied. Excel sheets can be used to form your GST invoice.

GST Refund

The taxpayer can get GST refund only under some specific conditions.

If you have paid extra tax payment then you are eligible to apply for refund. Refund can be issued if the tax is paid for those goods and services which are kept under 0% tax rates.

You can also apply for refund if you provided goods and services at much lower tax rates but purchased at higher tax rates and in case of tax paid by foreign nationals.

Application for refund is to be filed under Form GST RFD-1.The taxpayer can apply for refund within a given due date only. Refunded tax can be credited under your e-cash ledger which can be used in future for paying various taxes.

For getting refunded tax in e cash ledger you have to file an application in GST RFD-3 and GST RFD-4.

Application for refund can also be submitted in Form GST RFD-10 by special category of taxpayers who are included in section 55.

Your refund is issued within one week in Form GST RFD 04.

GST Late Fees Calculator (India)

This special calculator is devised to calculate GST late fees which is applicable on late filing of returns.

You must be eager to know how the GST late fee is calculated.

So, GST late fee is charged on the basis of number of days of delay from GST due date.

Late fees paid by the taxpayer is charged under CGST, SGST and in case of interstate transfer of goods late fee is also charged under IGST.

Amount of GST late fees is different for nil return and payable returns.Normally, Rs.50/- is charged per day separately for SGST as well as for CGST and Rs. 100 per day for IGST under nil return.

Late fees of Rs. 100 is charged as CGST. Then, same amount of late fees is charged per day for SGST that means Rs. 100 is charged for SGST. Rs. 200 is charged per day under IGST for payable gst returns.

GST Audit

There are three different types of audits. These audits are done by CA or CWA of taxpayers.

This audit is very helpful for CA’s and CWA’s for tracing if taxpayer is submitting right details to them or not.

Commissioner of central goods and services tax and commissioner of state goods and services tax can perform an audit in special cases.

Chartered accountant who work under commissioner of the state and central tax system can also go for an audit.

GST Audit is to be filed within a given time duration. In case of delay the taxpayer shall be liable to give penalty upto Rs. 2500.

GST Status can be evaluated with the help of goods and services identification number.

GST return status can be traced by anyone as this is not a private information.

What is GST tax?

Good and services tax is a single tax scheme that is followed throughout the country.

What is GST return ?

GST Return is a legal document that is to be submitted by the taxpayer as per the norms of GST.
Under this, a taxpayer has to give various details related to their business.
GST returns have information about output and input tax. Taxpayers have to give information about the tax applied on the things he purchased and the tax which is charged on the goods sold by him.
Thirteen different GST returns are classified as per rules of the government.
Returns are filed according to the business type. These are to be filed monthly, quarterly and annually.

How do I calculate GST?

How to get GST registration?

Those who fulfill the criteria to file goods and services tax must get registered for GST.
You have to go to the official website of gst. Official portal of GST is www.gst.gov.in.
Then click on the ‘New Registration’ tab. Now, enter your details like name, PAN, business type, business name and address.
Then you have to enter your email id and mobile number.
You will have to verify your mobile number and email id by entering the OTP which is send to registered mobile number and email id.
You will also receive a temporary reference number.
You have to use a temporary reference number for permanent registration. First enter your temporary reference number then enter captcha and proceed further.
In next step you have to upload scanned documents like photographs, business details and bank details.
Then submit your application.
At the end you will get an application reference number and in this way you can register for GST.

What are 3 types of GST ?
